Political violence against women in Ecuador
Abstract
The general objective of the research was to conduct a reflective legal analysis on political violence against women in Ecuador. It was developed under the qualitative approach, since it allowed to describe in depth the phenomenon under study by applying methods and techniques inherent to this approach, analyzing and synthesizing an idea. Supported by the analytical-synthetic, inductive and deductive methods, which allows forming a generalization of premises. Additionally, legal hermeneutics was applied in order to support the study and analysis of Ecuadorian legal regulations, as well as international treaties and conventions that empower the object of study. It is concluded that political violence is defined as all those actions and/or aggressive behaviors committed by a person or third parties that cause physical, psychological or sexual harm against a woman or her family for the simple fact of participating in the political sphere.
